Ceramic is material that hardens when fired, a material that is shaped, processed, surface-treated and then transformed at high temperatures. I not only use the clay itself, but this entire process as my medium. This concept is backbone of my creative process.
It was nothing if not an accident that I discovered the world of ceramics, but it was a very fortunate one. Shapes emerged from my hands as the wheel turned and I marveled as they came into existence right before my eyes. When I use the potter’s wheel, I feel the pure pleasure of creation, and for me, this is my foundation.
Just as water beckons more water and a narrow stream flows into a great river, I begin with these simple shapes and continually transform them. This process of transformation is my life’s work.
